This Is My Destiny
2017 / 19 min 50 sec / Fiction

[Synopsis]
A 19-year-old woman lost both of her parents in childhood.
Since junior high school, she has been made to help with accounting at the company her parents once ran, including taking part in false financial records.
One day, an older schoolmate returns to town as a journalist and tries to expose the company’s illegal activities.
Torn between protecting the company and wanting to live freely, she struggles to make a decision.
This film is about the beauty of having one’s life changed by another person, and the importance of living in one’s own way.
The protagonist was very close to who I was at the time.
Looking back now, some lines feel embarrassing and remind me how young I was.
